Research Associate Position

We are looking for an experienced researcher to work on projects aimed at characterizing tissue and circulating biomarkers in genetic muscle diseases.
In these projects we are going to use a variety of new technologies to study muscle biopsies of patients with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) and other muscle disorders, and to detect circulating biomarkers in patients’ plasma and serum. The final aim is to identify the key molecular pathways that are dysregulated in FSHD and other myopathies and to confirm them in vitro in cellular models of the disease. You will work in the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre, a centre of excellence for translational research in genetic neuromuscular diseases with around 90 team members at Newcastle University, UK.
Informal enquires to Prof. Giorgio Tasca (giorgio.tasca@newcastle.ac.uk).

Research Associate Position (Bioinformatician)

We are looking for a dynamic bioinformatician to analyse extensive omic datasets generated from muscle biopsies and other biological samples of patients affected by muscular dystrophies, to identify new disease mechanisms and biomarkers.
This is a rare opportunity to work on several cutting-edge projects that will have a real and direct impact on patients’ lives. You will join our world-class international team of clinicians and scientists at the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre, a centre of excellence for translational research in genetic neuromuscular diseases with around 90 team members, at Newcastle University, UK.
Informal enquires to Prof. Giorgio Tasca (giorgio.tasca@newcastle.ac.uk).
